I’d like an answer as well!” “It was just after I first regenerated. They were able to easily brainwash me, use me, and then make me forget it all.” Flashback: The Doctor is in a punch fight with Mr. Finch in the TARDIS console room. Finch was yelling as he threw wild punches, “I’m stuck in this form thanks to you! But I’ll have your TARDIS!” The Doctor blocked each punch with Venusian aikido. “I’ll kill you first and die before I let that happen!” Finch didn’t let up. “So be it!” The TARDIS doors opened and they both fell out toward a number of suns colliding. The Doctor finished his story to his three companions. “They saved me but not Finch. But returning me to Earth…” “Yes, yes, yes,” Jesse frustrated, “We heard all this. How’d that explain this? You being here.” “I must not have been in my right mind,” The Doctor said absently. He took out the sonic screwdriver with one hand and held a file in the other. He turned it on and it made a low whirring sound. “When have you been?” The Brig laughed as he watched the Doctor put the sonic screwdriver, still activated, down on the desk…HIS desk, the Brig realized. The Doctor and Jeremy glared at him. The Brig dropped his smile. It was then he tried to ignore the sound the screwdriver was making and how it annoyed him…and he failed…He wanted to ask the Doctor why he had the sonic screwdriver out and on but there were other pressing issues. “Yes, I’d like to know as well,” Jesse defended the Brig. “I mean whaa da fuck?” “It’s happened before. Ever try to reprogram a computer after you’ve just regenerated?” “Can’t say that I have,” the Brig stammered. “You might get the chance,” the Doctor murmured. “What?” “Nothing. I must have been taken by them or found by them. Brought here, been asked to help them, helped them.” Jeremy turned to look at the Doctor, leaving his eyes off the hallway approaches. “You helped get the teenagers off the Moon base and from the time tunnel?” “Yes, some of them,” the Doctor stated. “The rest are here somewhere…” “K9’s getting them out,” the Brig said. “He’s here.” “What?” The Doctor asked, almost too loudly. He hushed himself, “Shhhh! Quiet!” “We’re quiet!” Jesse yelled. He slammed some files that were in his left hand into his right hand. Some fell out. The Brig knelt down to retrieve them. He picked them all up. By his face, the Doctor knew something was wrong. He snatched the files from his friend. “I know that look well enough. We’ve known each other a long time, Alistair.” “I…don’t…ahh…know…” “What is it, you two?” Jeremy asked. “We have to get out of here.” As the Doctor read each page in turn, Jesse read from over his shoulder. “Mac to those who knew him. Homeless. Deceased. Sheila, deceased. The OL, old lady. Deceased. Husband. Deceased.” “And there’s more. And more. Deceased.” The Doctor flipped to a new file. “Deceased. Deceased. Deceased.” “Deceased…” The Doctor made a face and looked as if he were going to cry. Jeremy turned to look at him and saw this. He held the door closed. “Look, Doctor, you can’t save everyone, Doctor.” The Doctor tapped his inside on his left lower lip with his tongue. “Don’t I know that better than anyone?” Jesse came around to the Doctor’s front. “Listen. Listen to me. Thanks to you more of those teens are, this very minute…” “Well, in the future, this very minute…” The Brig interjected. The Doctor and Jeremy looked at him. He moved back from their accusing stares. “…more teenagers are safe because of you. If it were not for you, they’d be dead. Tyler would be dead. AND you stopped the motorcycle monster…let’s not forget him…” “I know. It’s just I hate that they used some of the homeless. It’s just that I hate to lose anyone.” “We know you do,” the Brig admitted. “I hate losing any of my men in battle.” “And you’re going to say it’s a part of the job?” Jesse asked, a bit of accusation in his voice. The Doctor nodded. “Some of them have been lost in time, some probably dead. Others died outright in the time experiments…some might still be incarcerated here…” “How can we find them?” Jeremy asked. “I don’t know.” The Doctor said. “I didn’t see anything that would give us a clue to where they…most of these files are about bursa yabancı escort them though. I don’t even know if any of them are still alive.” He read every file. Jeremy checked the door and looked back. “Look, Doc, I know how you feel but what’re you doing? We really do have little time to get ourselves out of here.” The Brig stepped up to the Doctor and drew his larger frame to his old friend. “The boy’s right, Doctor…” “What ARE you doing?” Jesse asked, pulling the files. “It’s all right. I’ve finished.” The Doctor nodded. “You can discard those now.” “Discard?” Jesse put the files in the cabinet. “I was memorizing their names and times they were thought to be lost in.” “You’re going to try to find them, aren’t you?” Jeremy smiled as he looked back to the Doctor. “Eventually. I won’t forget any of them. I will find them if any of them survived lost in time.” The Doctor said. “I hate when I fail. Cause when I fail, people die and I hate losing lives. It’s such a waste.” Jesse put a hand on the Doctor’s shoulder. “You save more than you lose.” “I’d do anything to give people more time…it’s why I’m…” “What? What you do at night? Are you finding others who…” “More coming!” Jeremy eased the door closed to a crack and grit his teeth. The Doctor looked back into another file. He began talking to himself. “That could be the crucial circuit.” “What are you talking about, Doctor?” The Brig asked. “Agreed, yes. I wonder, could it be tripped? Well, I wouldn’t like to be around if it was.” Jesse lowered his body, almost doing a squat. “What are you thinking, Doctor?” “Oh, dangerous thoughts, Jeremy. Dangerous thoughts. Look, Brigadier. Warp crossover connected there, shutdown element there and…” The Brig asked, “Disaster?” “Well, only if the servo blew.” “Wouldn’t it destroy the entire base?” Jesse asked. Jeremy whispered to the Doctor, “You aren’t serious, are you?” “Well, it could be done. Tricky, and I hope not necessary as there might be homeless still in some rooms.” “Some of them are working with the Colonel.” “Yes. Perhaps willingly or brainwashed. Either way, I’m not sure they had much of a choice.” The Doctor folded the schematic and opened a small pocket on the Brig’s jacket, “Thank you, Brigadier. Put that away safely, will you? Jeremy, how are the fun and games over there?” “They’ve all passed us up. They wouldn’t even think that you’d come to your own office.” “Good, good. Then it’s time for us to blow this taco stand.” “Literally?” “No, no, Brigadier. You and I shall go that way and down the supply elevator shaft…that’s at the far end of this hallway and not the same one you boys came up.” “Doctor, I’m too old to climb down an elevator shaft with you. Again.” Jeremy raised an eyebrow as he looked back at Jesse, who shrugged. Jesse gasped. “Jeremy and I just came from the elevator shaft.” “Yeah,” Jeremy added, “Plus I’m tired. Fighting the entire army, navy, marines, even seals has made me that way. And while I want to get shafted, that’s not the way I had in mind or anywhere else for that matter.” “Oh, all right, all right,” the Doctor said. “There seems to be a sort of downward floor with a hand rail…” the Doctor turned and looked at the Brig. “…for you, Brigadier.” “And us?” Jesse asked. “The staircase. The guards won’t expect you there. They might even think you’re still in the elevator shaft.” “Oh, why is that?” Jeremy asked. It at that moment, the Brig couldn’t take the sound of the screwdriver. “Doctor, what is that infernal screwdriver of yours doing and why do we have to tolerate its persistent hellish sound?” “Overreacting much?” The Doctor smiled at Jeremy, “While we were talking, I was using the sonic on the main elevator shaft to open and close the doors on all the floors at different times.” The Doctor held his screwdriver aloft. “And melting their bullets?” Jeremy asked, with a grin gracing his handsome features. “Mmmm hmmm. But with the bullet melter in my pocket…” As he smiled at that, Jeremy opened the door for them to pass through. “After you?” “MMMMM,” the Doctor answered him and whispered, “Brigadier.” “No, no. I wouldn’t mind if you go first…” “Brigadier…” the Doctor sighed. “I think the boys should go first. That way if we’re captured, it would give them a head start. They’re much faster than we…than I…am.” “Brigadier?” The Doctor motioned. “We’ll probably all be killed. In any event of that or escape or capture, good luck to you both. Splendid chaps, both of you.” The Brig saluted the two boys bursa sınırsız escort as he followed the Doctor. “This way, Brigadier.” The Doctor led him to the open vestibule at the end of the hallway which sunk down with a ramp like feeling. Jeremy closed the door. “You ready?” “Do I have a choice?” “No—ah…” Jeremy answered. He peered out again. “It’s still all clear.” Jesse pointed. “The staircase, it’s that way. I saw it when he first came up here.” “I’ll go first,” Jeremy commanded and ran out toward the opposite end of the hall. Jesse quickly followed. “Ohh, this is dangerous,” Jesse admitted as he places his chin on Jeremy’s shoulder and his front on Jeremy’s back. “No other choice,” Jeremy opened the door, peeked into the stairwell and looked up. “We have to go up to the top. Even if we don’t meet any guards on the way, there’ll probably be at least one or two men at the door to the outside…” “IF we make it there.” “Be positive, Jesse.” “Mmmm.” Jesse frowned. They crept up the steps but Jeremy heard something. He looked below and saw two men in black garb coming up the steps with long, thin katana swords. Jeremy didn’t hesitate but grabbed the side of the rail and hopped down at them and floored them both with his feet. On his back, he used both feet to kick both men in the face to render them unconscious. He picked up the swords as he heard more feet coming up the steps. “Ninja! Keep going up!” Jesse ran up the steps. “Be positive, he says. Ninja he says!” Jeremy tilted his head down and gave his best demented face as more men came up the steps in black garb. Some had two swords, some had one. They looked about his age and older. “In any road of life…” Jeremy blocked every move made by the first man and knocked both his swords out of his hands quickly. He used the flat part of the sword to hit the man’s legs and down him. Another man took his place with one sword. Jeremy moved to block it and missed but sidestepped out of the way. “…if you should ever see yourself…” He moved in on the man and ducked down under the man’s sword. He slid the sword along the man’s hip to wound him instead of kill him but at this point, he wondered if he should kill these fuckers. The man fell back, both swords clanging on the ground. Jeremy jumped back so that he could ascend the steps. The next man tried to jab up the rail at him so Jeremy took his sword and slammed it down on the man’s sword, cutting it in two. “…better than others…” He turned to see another man, a short stocky Italian with an open black gi, muscled belly and chest. “STOP!” Jeremy made the man jump a bit so Jeremy turned the sword in his own hand and thrust the hilt into the man’s chin and knocked him down. Another took his place. “…YOUR journey and…” he twisted his swords around the tall man’s swords and easily made him drop them. “AND START OVER…” Jeremy nodded down to his swords but the man backed off. Jeremy snarled and jumped upward. “Cowards!” The next man, a tall Asian man who looked like Yoshi Sudarso, the blue Power Ranger in Dino Charge, long flowing black hair and tall stature, jumped at Jeremy. “He’s a kid, kill him! I’ll kill him!” Jeremy jumped further back. “An arrogant mind…” The Yoshi lookalike jumped up after him. “I’m gonna slay you. Run this right through your belly button.” “…is a faulty journey…” Jeremy flipped his swords into the opposite hand, confusing Yoshi as the tall man jumped at him, hair flying. He also yelled. Great, Jeremy thought, another screamer. Jeremy jumped but this time he jumped forward, surprising Yoshi and kicking the man’s stomach as the man swung at him. Jeremy swung and made Yoshi drop his sword. Yoshi ran for it, even as another man came running up at Jeremy leveled the sword and stuck the man in the stomach and unplugged him fast as to not kill him. “So sorry. You ran right into that one.” Yoshi hesitated before the picked up his sword. He looked at Jeremy as the boy moved up several more steps, taking out more men with his sword, him getting more aggressive with each step upward and with each new man. “No one is better than another,” Jeremy said as Yoshi pushed past wounded men to confront Jeremy again. “For everyone…” He met every blow from Yoshi tip for tip, side sword to side sword. As two other men attacked from Jeremy’s sides, hopping up the steps, Yoshi retrieved a second fallen sword and attacked from the front. Jeremy bowed and crisscrossed his swords as the two men from his sides attacked. He also did a side bend with his legs, stretching görükle escort one leg out and bending the other so he could move to his right, stab the attacker on his right, first, and then reversing the move to stab the attacker on his left. Both men were struck in the belly and deeply. They groaned and fell to the walls on their respective sides. “So sorry! But I’m beat and I can still beat you all.” “What about that arrogance and faultiness?” Yoshi had used the distraction to move at Jeremy again and nicked Jeremy just under his left arm and more toward his back. It was a mere scratch. “You can probably beat me. But you will not. Already I see your self-doubt edging in. You must have trained Eastern. Therefore you are aware of the Chi and the Tao. “For everyone has a lesson that can instruct others.” Yoshi raised his sword again and…stopped. He held it in midair. As other men ran up the steps at both of them, Yoshi went wide eyed and stared at Jeremy. “Therefore, we are all individual equals.” Jeremy threw his swords over the edge and the hilts hit two more men in the head and withdrew them from the chase. He then turned and ran for the next floor where he found Jesse waiting with the door being held. “I thought I told you…” “Fucking just shut the fuck up and run!” Jesse pulled him through the door and peeked down. He saw Yoshi fighting his own men on the steps. Huffing, the two tried to catch their breath at a corner. “What…” Jesse gasped, “Did you do to that guy?” “Nothing. Just told him the truth.” Yoshi killed about 14 men and one of them had ripped his Yoshi’s shirt at the belly. Yoshi realized he was wounded. “I couldn’t last much longer,” Jeremy gasped. “They’re very good.” A man came up the steps and shot Yoshi in the stomach. Yoshi went down and died slowly. “That was a gun!” Jesse gasped. “They must have found a way to override the bullet melter!” In the tunnel complex, Ann told the Colonel. “Our scientists found a way to get the guns working again.” “Good. Shoot the boys on sight and shoot to kill!” The Colonel called over a loudspeaker to his men. “Fuck!” Jeremy said. “We can’t outrun or out fight guns!” “This way,” Jesse said, “I remember the way out.” “Weren’t you blindfolded?” Jesse ran to a large metallic wall with a few doors on it. “Sure.” “And you can remember how to go where?” “Sure. It’s easy.” Jesse said. “And you thought I didn’t have any ninja skills.” “I seriously have to give you lessons on how to fight.” Jeremy opened the door and looked in. “Hey, I can fight…” “Yeah.” Jeremy looked at the 70 foot wall ahead. “Great. We’re kind of one floor up from where we started.” “I know but it does seem to be the only way up.” The Brigadier and the Doctor ran right into a large contingency of guards in the lowering corridor. They put their hands up. Jeremy looked at the floor in the new, wide open room. “That time tunnel complex is just underneath or so…” “I know, Jeremy, I know. But we’re above it so we’re past the real dangers… I hope.” “Nothing here. This room…” Jesse said, “It looks kind of weird.” “Well, everything about this place is weird.” They walked to the middle of the room. “See another door?” “No,” Jesse said, his voice reflecting the puzzle in his head. “It doesn’t make any sense. One door on that side for a room this big?” “There’s, ahh, some kind of control contraption over there…” Jeremy pointed to the far wall where a small box like device was. “Let’s go to it and see if it opens the walls or something.” “Okay,” Jesse moved to the middle of the room, Jeremy at his side. They moved closer to it, a vast expanse of floor between them and the door they just entered through. As they focused on the contraption, another gunshot made them turn directly away from it and react toward the wall they just came in from. “The Doctor!” “The Brig!” Jeremy gasped and the two of them ran toward that wall. “They’ve shot them!” The room was huge and they had to run to reach the one small door they had already entered by. Suddenly from behind the contraption on the wall, in a small alcove, emerged the weasel scientist. He grabbed a lever. “Oh, Mr and Mrs. Doctor!?” They stopped running and turned to see the weasel scientist. Before Jesse could say, “He’s stalking us,” the weasel pulled a lever on the contraption. Two trap doors opened under Jesse and Jeremy’s bodies and they fell through, arms in the air. Jesse’s shirt, loose fitting, flew up into the air, off his body and soon descended after him …into blackness!!!
